David just turned 20. Yes the big 2-0 so instead of making him breakfast in bed this year (because we went to his house on his actual birthday) I decided to make him dinner. I had no idea what to make so I started basing the meal around sweet potato fries, which he loves. Well the most appropriate compliment for them is a burger or sandwich. I decided on burgers, then gruyere cheese (because you can’t go wrong with Gruyere), and looked up recipes. I found a recipe for a bacon-onion marmalade and decided that was it. I contacted the author of the blog and he gave me his recipe and I started shopping. I went to Reading Terminal Market to buy ground beef, Gruyere, baby brie (appetizer), onions, sweet potatoes, bread, wine, and arugula. THAT was a long and wet shopping trip (it was pouring rain). I came back and got some phyllo dough with David and we started the baked brie with raspberry jam.
